Our Programs

The Certificate program is the foundation of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy as a speciality practice. The expected outcome is a change in clinical behaviour as Physical Therapists gain knowledge in evidence-based patient management and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions using direction-specific exercise and OMPT procedures (mobilization/manipulation).

The core of certification is musculoskeletal differential diagnosis using a combination of selective tissue and movement-based examination. Physical Therapists will learn to appreciate and integrate current Clinical Practice Guidelines for patient care. Certified clinicians will be able to communicate effectively with medical providers as well as educate their patients on prognosis and appropriate medical care.

This program consists of four courses which can be applied independently as continuing education courses.

The Institute for Physical Therapy Advancement (IPTA) proudly presents a webinar series dedicated to providing the latest scientific updates and advancements in the field of physiotherapy. This initiative aims to equip physiotherapists with cutting-edge knowledge, evidence-based practices, and emerging trends to enhance their clinical expertise and professional development.

Each session features renowned experts, engaging discussions, and practical insights that bridge the gap between research and real-world application. Whether you're a practicing physiotherapist, an educator, or a student, this webinar series offers a valuable opportunity to expand your skills, stay updated, and network with peers in the industry.

The C-OMPT designation is a professional credential awarded to Physical Therapists who have undertaken a rigorous examination process that tests the clinician’s knowledge of the learning objectives and competencies of the PTAS orthopedic manual physical therapy courses. The C-OMPT certification will use a combination of written multiple choice test, case study problem solving (didactic component) and oral-practical (psychomotor skills component) examination format. The certification program emphasizes clinical decision-making, evidence-based orthopedic practice, patient assessment, treatment, exercise, orthopedic manual therapy procedures, treatment progression and safety using non-thrust mobilization and thrust manipulation. Examination takes 1 day to complete.
